Mike Thomas, president of California Landscape Construction (CalHort) in Campbell, says he has noticed a trend toward the use of more ornamental grasses in poolside landscaping. "There's such a large number of grasses, and they offer rich textures and a variety of colors," Thomas says. "They're so easy to maintain," he adds. "You cut them back once a year in the winter and they grow back in summer."
